Design Patterns

Many a times I have wondered about Design Patterns. I thought it was a complex subject and it needs more stuff to understand them. But eventually out of my experience I have understood that Design Patterns are something which we use them in our day-to-day activities. All the above mean in particular with programming and that too in .NET. Several years before I created a website which hosted all my funny and interesting emails. I had used some design patterns in them. On later stage I came to know that I have used MVC Pattern, Factory Pattern and Singleton Pattern in the website.

As of now almost everything in programming follows a design pattern which helps a lot when it comes to complex programming. All the developers to some extent might be aware of the Object Oriented Programming. But it would be the best if they are able understand the real life problems that they face with OOP. Design Patterns come to rescue over solving some complex issues with ease.

For a long time Design Patterns are in the safe lockers of Architects. Now an awareness was found among the developers to concentrate more on Design Patterns. I was trying to google around an was able to see lots of information about design patterns. I would like to list a few of them for your reference.

Themes in Gmail

It was awesome to see Gmail has now got themes. The dry look now has got more energetic. Also the themes are supposed to change as per the location to which the themes are set. It is one more wow from Gmail.

However there are some compatibility issues still left with some themes which was found when we activate some gmail addons like moving the chat list to the right and so on. I could also see a horizontal scroll in IE.

Have a look if you are lucky to get them on your email account. Try whether you have themes on your settings section. Have fun!

Posting blogs through email

Today as i was digging through Blogger I found an option of posting blogs through email. The world has become too short. The blogs could be published using mobile, email and what not ... sometime in the future kids would ask "Papa! What do you mean by Books?"

Sumptuous meal at Rajaram's

One of our sweet business user wanted to have some nice Indian food. Although it was raining we headed out to Rajaram's house which was And this is what the delight she has got after finishing the lunch. We had a sumptous meal. We could hardly get up and walk.

First we were greeted pleasanlty by Ms. Rajaram and after a small chat with each other we sat for lunch. To start we had some Tamarind Rice / Lemon Rice / Mango Rice (not too sure) and Tasty Medu Vada accompanied with two tasty pepper flavoured omlette.

Then finally Rasam and the finishing touch with a big banana which I didnt eat. Before we fall asleep we headed back to office and you know before I forget I wanted to send it across ... so is all the explanation above ...

Santhome Church

My wifey had the joy of taking this picture of Santhome Church when we were driving towards our way to purchase a new musical keyboard for me. This place is located at the southern end of Marina beach and the church derives its name from St. Thomas, an apostle of Christ who is believed to have come to Chennai sometime during 52 AD. He was believed to have been killed on St. Thomas Mount just outside the city in 78 AD and was interned in Santhome beach where a church was later built. Serveral years after, another church was built further inland and his mortal remains were transferred from the former to the later.

In 1606 the Church was re-built as a Cathedral and in 1896 it was made a Basilica. The beautiful tainted glass windows at the basilica portray the story of St. Thomas and the Central Hall has 14 wooden plaques depicting scenes of the last days of Christ. In the Cathedral is a 3 feet high statue of the Virgin Mary which is believed to have been brought from Portugal in 1543.

Trying the Windows Live Writer

Just had a quick chance to see how the windows live writer works. When I publish and if it works perfectly then I am very much pleased by the work done by the Microsoft Guys on this regard.

Good initiative on creating this Live Writer by M$. It is fairly simple to configure as well for the novice users. The options also very straight forward and clear. It has got options of adding Videos as well to MSN Soap Box and Youtube. This is absolutely cool feature.

Like a regular XHTML editor, it works comfortably. It was really a feel at home experience using Microsoft Word. It also got a spell checker to check the blog which is infact super good.

Exotic Travel

I had a great time with my wife at Pollachi for past 4 days. I had a rapid visit to pollachi and neighboring areas like athu pollachi, aliayar dam, monkey falls, mazhamuzha dam.

The weather was splendid which infact made me feel to stay there itself. Both I and my wife got a nice welcome to pollachi by her hostelmate who took entire responsibility of our stay there. I will have my travelblog updated on the photos and videos.

My wife and I went to Sugajeeva Church there we heard a good message and enjoyed the worship in God's presence. Pastor. Abel Ganesh gave a message which was useful for me first and I hope it was really easy to understand so hope the crowd there would have also got their best.

Godzilla Dosa

This is the monster Godzilla Dosa available on the amusement park VGP Golden Beach at injambakkam. The length of the Dosa is 3 Feet. My wife and I managed to finish eating completely. It was a great fun having that Dosa.

When I was in London, I had a change to get into Nandos (All Chicken Shop). The chicken was so delicious! with the sauce they had served. Enjoyed unlimited Coke. Spicy Chicken.

Picturesque Big Ben!

Here are some awesome pictures of Big Ben. I was spellbound by the marvellous monument which was though through and sculptured. I infact took snaps in lots of angles. Here are few which I liked most. The time I took the photo was the perfect time for taking picture and it was dawn. The time was exactly 7:40 pm. At chennai it promptly gets dark by that time.

Awesome snaps through my Mobile

The snaps below were taken in London when I was there for 2 weeks. I am overwhelmed with the performance of my Mobile camera that it rendered snaps which were scincillating. The time I took these snaps was around 9:45 pm. I never thought it was that late as my friend and I was talking and walking right from Chelsea square to London Bridge.

I really enjoyed the long walk and finally reached my hotel at Sloane Square around 11 pm in the night. I was so tired but on the other hand I was so happy that I was able to roam around London enjoying the picturesque view of London during night.

Needless to say, these pictures are just awesome for a camera mobile.

At Abu Dhabi Airport

I finally gave up for some time on getting my blogs programmed and so I was forced to use Blogspot to power my blogs. Here is my updated and new blog. I still have the plans of creating my own blog software which will have all the features of top notch blog machines. My plan might look skeptical, but hope that would be soon accomplished.

Tis idea of having the blog pointing to my subdomain arose when I started to sit over a cup of tea and took a shot of my colleague on local tea shop and upload them through my Sony Ericsson K850i. It gracefully got uploaded to a new destination @ blogspot.

New design for my blogs

It is always refreshing to know that new designs always keep our minds fresh. I always wanted a change in my website although the content remains the same. Sometime back I was behind simple plain vanilla site and now as I got sometime to do some designs I am happy to redesign my website.

Another update on my blog is that shortly I would like to close all the other blog sites and going to import all the blogs to this website. I always wanted to be unique.

I believe building my website by myself will be giving me a good practical exposure on the new technologies. I have been using ASP.NET 2.0 and MYSQL to power my blog. Also I am using URL Rewriting component to rewrite my URLS.

Effectiveness of Eye-Tracking

I recently got to know that there is something interesting to know about the eye-tracking of the readers especially when it comes to web. Most of the users are believed to follow a F-Pattern in reading website contents quickly.
So following eye-tracking across board will definitely be of great use to the people who are really concerned about their content being read by the users properly should investigate more on the reading patterns of the users.

Removed Visual Styles - Default Font

Deeply inspired by the simple and plain look of the my website http://www.abrahamdurairaj.info I have changed my blog as well to look so. Plain and simple always look better than the designed ones. I will try to retain this kinda layout till I get bored of the plain vanilla.

Another inspiration was Richard Stallmans personal homepage which looked simpler than mine.
I would like to achieve something via simplicity.

Tiny MCE - Cool XHTML Editor

I was astonished to see a cool open source editor Tiny MCE. I have heard about it sometime back. But, was exploring the capabilities of this cool editor. This Tiny MCE supports almost supports all browsers. I came across this editor via http://www.geniisoft.com/showcase.nsf/WebEditors which gave a good comparison of wide range of text editors available online.

Another great thing about this editor is that it is simple to integrate. it Just takes the
